Default How do you make a back for an odd shaped cameo/cabachon? Jewelry/Jewellery making.

Pendants.? I have some unusual shaped cameos and cabochons that I would like to make in to brooches/pendants/earrings. I make jewellery on a regular basis and normally use correct size cabochon mounts but I have some that are teardrop shaped and some that are very unusual that I just don't know what to do with. I've seen a necklace that somebody had mounted a teardrop cameo on something flat - I could tell because there was a ring to attach it to a necklace at the top but I don't know what they used or how they did it. Any help or advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
