I'm only asking this question cause I'm not sure if it can happen in real life. i need to know because its going to go into my mystery story. I know that most stones have this thing in it where if its cold enough it can freeze, expand and crack the stone or something like that. in my story its the middle of October at night and someone gets kidnapped and they don't go down without a fight. so they throw hits and punches at the kidnapper. they accidentally pull the necklace off and throw it to the ground. Do you think that the stone on the necklace would be chipped or broken at all? this is simple best answer gets 10 points!
If needed here is a picture of the stone. its not exactly the same as the one i have to use but i think its close.

I really doubt it would crack or chip. Turquoise is relatively soft, it would probably scratch the main large stone, if you need there to be evidence of a fight on the necklace. You could always have the clasp break as it was ripped from her neck. I don't think October would be cold enough either. Maybe November, in Minnesota.
