Default How do I clean silver and moonstone jewelry?

I have a necklace that I got years ago as a gift. The silver pendant has a small stone in the middle. It's iridescent and a very pale color and I believe it's moonstone, but for all I know it's just sea glass or something. I need to clean the silver part (the gem cannot be separated from the silver backing, so I am hesitant to soak it in salt water) and I was wondering what the best, safest method would be?
i don't actually need to clean the stone, i just want to make sure it doesn't get damaged in the process of cleaning the silver

The way I clean my jewelry is, I have this cream I put on my silver and gold its called Tarnish cleaner u can get it at Walmart or Walgreens but mostly Walmart. It's pink and in a aluminum like tube.... but the thing is, to really get it clean is to use a felt cloth, -that also makes it shine- and as for the gem.....get a dot of bleach, and mix it with a little soap and water and it really helps.... really do not us that much bleach or, you might ruin the stone. Oh and also the the tarnish remover cost about 10.00.

In cleaning jewelries, avoid using bleach. It might cause damage to the appearance of the jewelry. There are also creams available in stores that can be used.
